Although born and raised in Coventry Martin returned to his parents' roots in the North East and then trained with Peat Marwick at Newcastle qualifying in 1984.
After three years audit experience with "Peats" (now KPMG) Martin joined UHY Torgersens as Audit Manager and in 1988 was admitted to partnership.
Martin's expertise is mainly with family companies, often referred to as FOMBs, company tax planning and Grant Applications although Martin has also worked with Medical Practitioner Partnership and other professional businesses.
Since becoming a partner Martin has specialised in businesses operating in the property setor and in the Motor Trade. Consequently, he has recently become Chairman of the UHY Hacker Young Motor Trade Sector Group and is an integral member of the UHY Hacker Young Property and Hotels and Restaurants Sector Groups.
